Dr Marius du Toit
Senior & Lead Veterinarian
Dr Marius du Toit is our practice owner and head Veterinarian.
Dr Marius Graduated from University of Pretoria, Onderstepoort in 2002. He worked in a mixed practice in South Africa from June 2002- January 2007. He then had an opportunity to work at a small animal clinic in England from June 2007 until January 2008.
He returned home back to South Africa to continue working in his mixed clinic as a practice partner.
Dr Marius and his family located to Australia in December 2020 where he worked in a mixed animal practice in 2021 for almost a year.
Dr Marius opened up his own practice, Ballarat Country Vets in a little town called Smythesdale in February 2022. Ballarat Country Vets is a mixed animal practice that offers Veterinary services to pets and farm animals.
Dr Marius thoroughly enjoys surgery and large animal work.
In his spare time, Dr Marius loves spending time with his family going camping and cycling.

Ashli
Senior Vet Nurse (Senior Cert IV Veterinary nurse)
Ashli is a qualified Senior Cert IV Veterinary nurse and our clinic manager. She has been in the Veterinary industry for 13 years. She has worked at several different veterinary clinics across Australia and has managed several practices and trained many trainees. Ashli's favourite parts of nursing include, orthopaedic surgery and emergency surgical nursing.
Ashli is a country girl at heart and has lived just out of Ballarat all her life. She lives on acreage with her Husband, beautiful dogs and a couple of Mini goats & ferrets.
Ashli, (2022) also just opened her very own dance studio. Her hobbies include being outdoors with her dogs, camping and dancing.

Senior Vet Nurse (Cert IV Veterinary nurse)
Melissa is a qualified Cert IV senior veterinary nurse and has been in the industry for 13 years. She brings a wealth of knowledge to the Ballarat Country vets team.
Melissa is passionate about meeting new patients and ensuring every patient has a positive experience in the clinic. Believing that each patient should be treated as if it was her own pet.
Mel grew up on a farm in South Australia and now lives on acreage of her own with her family, horses and dog. In her spare time Mel loves horse riding, going on adventures, camping and seeing her friends.

Haylee is one of our junior nurses and became a qualified Cert IV veterinary nurse at the end of 2023.
Haylee enjoys all aspects of surgery and also likes assisting with large animals.
